Wayne Kavanagh

Wayne started riding out for Arthur Moore when he was 15. He came over to England in 2003 and went to work for Brendan Powell as an amateur. He rode his first winner (Geordies Express) for George Bewley in May 2004 at Kelso in a Hunter Chase. Wayne joined Seamus as a Conditional in August 2005.

Wayne is making a name for himself as one of the most promising Conditional jockeys around. He is riding a good proportion of the stable's runners as well as building a reputation among outside yards who use him. Wayne has a wonderful quiet way with horses and is able to communicate really well with owners and trainers. He will hopefully ride plenty of winners again this season.

The highlight of his career so far was winning the United House Gold Cup at Ascot on See You Sometime and riding Kawagino to 5th Place in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham (see photo).

Wayne lives locally in Tidworth with his girlfriend Heather and their Terrier puppy Bonnie.
