Richard Young

Richie started riding at the age of 6. He came over to England at the age of 20 and started his first job in racing for Simon Earle in Dorset. Simon initiated Richie's ambitions to be a jockey by organising his first point to point ride. After a couple of seasons Richie moved yards to Robert Alner where he continued to flourish, riding many winners both point to point and under rules as an amateur. His highlight being winning the Foxhunters at Cheltenham on Kingscliff.

In 2003 Richie moved to Seamus' yard and turned professional claiming 5lbs. Richie is a natural horseman who excels at getting young horses to jump well. He is invaluable on the schooling ground and rides plenty of winners for the yard as well as outside trainers. He rode out his claim in May 2007 at Exeter.

Richard lives in one of Sally and Seamus' properties localy and is married to Helen who recently gave birth to a little girl!
